So. I decided to go and redo my fan region maps. Here they are, in spoilers, as the images are 768x768 and 768x1152 px, so they're pretty big :P

Hope you like!

The things you see here:
At the bottom left, you see the town you begin in.
Right next to it, there's the professor's lab/house, with his own research area and the house of his assistant (which you can't enter).
Above it, in the centre of the image, there's the first route. As always in pokémon games, you can walk back to the first town without walking through grass.
At the top there's the first town. There is no mart - instead there will be one or two guys/women on the right side of the town selling stuff.
The image above that one shows route 2. The house located on this route is Head butt man's house. He will give you loads of Head butt TMs, which you can use on trees much like the one below his house :)

credit to the tileset goes to kyledove, although I created the small blue houses from some of his tiles.
Like the region name, like the prof being more secluded, yet couldn't have a lab and then a house? Nice alyout for them all though. Very nice D/P style layout.
Well, here's the thing - the professor (Garrett Alder is his name.) is pretty shy/afraid of people, which is why he lives outside a town that is already pretty far away from everything else. However - he feels it's his duty to pass on his knowledge to a next generation (not that he that is old - as a matter of fact, he's a childhood friend of Oak. However, that friendship more or less ended when Alder moved to Hayash at age 11.)
So, he transformed his old barn into this small house for an assistant to live.

All-American sweetheart Maureen Maple was decided to become Alder's assistant. She's the one that takes care of things in the town for Alder these days as well (like running errands among other things) so that he hardly has to come in contact with people.

The house itself doesn't play a role in the story, so it isn't accessible :)

EDIT: Map 2!

The house located on this route (which is the second route) is Head butt man's house. He will give you loads of Head butt TMs, which you can use on trees much like the one below his house :)
Love the headbutt idea and I love the route, perfectly laid out.
The basic idea of the headbutt man is that he'll give you one headbutt TM for every one of his children that you find. He has 6 of them, and they're spread throughout the Hayash region. They'll be underneath a headbutt tree, and will be recognizable by their clothing.
The headbutt idea comes from the GSC games, where it was possible aswell.

The route itself has been changed a little - I added a sign at the square at the bottom of the route, and some ledges you can't jump next to the headbutt man's house. Which means, you'll be able to get there later, but not now :) Much like the GSC games, where you can jump from the last town to the first, but not vice versa.

Now, I'm a bit worried about the tiling. I'm not too sure how to do it - I want the world to be quite big, but I want it to make sure it's all correct (on the OW map that is) you know? All the map parts are 24x24 tiles now, but that means that the first part already looks like this:

■■
□■
□■
■■
■(■)

Which is too much for this small part. It would mean that:
a) my OW map would become humungous
b) I'll have to redo the maps

and I don't want either of them to happen D=
Just screw that system? XD They're really great maps, so you could just do it so that each route is one square and each town is one square. That's how they do it in the Pokemon games.
