Okay th Role Play was slightly based off this. But this is a different twist to the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon storyline. 4th Generation will show up later.
It was a year ago when it started from what I remember. So much happened back then it’s all hard to remember. So I am reading it to you out of Royal cities history book; Every month it’s updated.
Well here’s the thing. Last year strange things started to happen. Many Pokemon started reporting missing. First was the strong one’s like Steelix, Houndoom, and many others. Then the contact with the sort of weaker Pokemon started to fade. It’s as if the Royal city’s borders began to close in, (when it was spread all over the landscape.) For some reason our guardians (the legendaries) disappeared as well. Many began fearing the worst to come. Many fled to the inside the walls of Royal City, now we are overcrowded by 5,000 more than the size of my home can handle. Then two months ago our emperor (Typhlosion) came to his podium and told us something around these lines.
“Two months of mystery, fear, and utter panic. Our Guardians have left and we need to restore our homeland instead of panic and watch it crumble around us, if this continues families will go against each other, no more! We have decided to set up a system of rescue teams. My secretary: Whiscash is awaiting anyone in groups of three to become a team of rescue members. Please decide to stop from panicking, we’ll also need reports of captured Pokemon and where we can find them. Whiscash is awaiting you in the grand pool.
Four months from that day, and in that time: 51 rescue missions have been successful, 30 have failed and 10 never came back. I am a Larvitar, my name is Sandraft. My friend’s Volta (Flaaffy) and Cutlass (Scyther) are teaming up today to form our team. We have all trained to level 25 and are ready for a challenge. We are to meet Whiscash at the grand pool. I was to bring the battle items; Cutlass was to bring our Poke. And Volta was our berry specialist.
Whiscash at Royal city is who we are to report to for our first assignment. Cutlass was the first to be there followed by Volta and then me (always been on the lazy side.) Volta never appreciated this, her anger always scared me.
“Sandraft! Where in Royal City have you been?!!” I bowed on my hands and knees.
“I’M SORRY!!! PLEASE DON’ KILL ME!” I pleaded. Whiscash laughed and Cutlass remained anonymous to what was happening.
“So this is Team Sandstrike?” (We decided on that name with sand being me and strike being Cutlass’s and Volta’s part.)
We all bowed in response.
“Okay that puts us on track. For joining you receive; 150 Poke’ as a thank you. Your first assignment is to go to the Falls of Lugia; do you all know where that is?”
“Yes, at least I do.” Cutlass put in. “The Falls of Lugia are east of here past the Desert of Groudon and over the river of Latios.”
“Looks like someone here is on the ball. Yes that is exactly where it is. At most it’s a four hour hike from here. What you’re looking for is two Nidoran, one boy, one girl. Here are your badges and good luck.”
We all bowed and set off for the east gate out of the city. Cutlass (being the jittery one of us) was in a rush.
When we got out of the city we followed a rough path that went around the Desert of Groudon, when it was much easier just to go though!
“Guys can we please just go through the desert! Please, please, please!” I got down on my hands and knees and begged. Cutlass never had any monarchy over me but Volta sure did. Even though I had the type advantage Volta has a glare that could kill. I surrendered and just followed them on the path.
“We could just walk through the desert, no! A sheep and a mantis can’t sweat at all-”
“SANDRAFT IF I HEAR YOU MUTTER ANOTHER WORD AGAIN I’LL GUARANTEE YOUR GRAVE IS ALMOST SIX FEET DEEP!”
At that moment I backed off and hid behind Cutlass. In almost four hours time we passed the desert and walked across the ford that was developed over the River of Latios. I always hated water but this made every thing worse. At first Cutlass wouldn’t let me hang onto his leg before he crossed the river but before he actually did he submit. Volta happily skipped across the ford. Once we got across we were right in front of what looked like a dome mountain that a mouth to a cave shot out the River of Latios.
“What’s that?” I asked.
“That Sandraft,” Cutlass began proudly “Is the Falls of Lugia.”
“Well this sucks.” I added crossing my arms.
“Relax Sandraft the falls are inside, it’s a sight to behold trust me.” Cutlass lead us into the mouth of the cave.
No Matter what happens my three greatest fears in this world are water, overgrowth of plants, and heights but the sight was too much to behold. What I saw inside was many levels of sparkling falls due to a shining blue rocks that scattered the water. The ceiling of the cave was coated in a crackling sapphire. The blue rocks light reflected off of them intensifying it to make the cave dimly lit. On the sides of each levels of falls were wash-up areas that were mostly rock.
Cutlass looked down for a moment.
“What is it?” Volta asked,
“It’s just that last time I was here there were fellow pokemon (mostly water) all over enjoying the falls and the paradise that is before us. Along with the protection of Lugia that rested at the top of the falls in the pool. Now, there’s no one here at all…” Cutlass finished.
“Oh I wouldn’t count on that!” a voice came from the water. We all turned to see a Crawdaunt that had the two Nidoran we were looking for in it’s pincers. Crawdaunt then threw both of them on the opposite bank of where we stood.
Volta flashed her badge. “You are under direct order of Team Sandstrike to release those Nidoran now or we will ‘persuade’ you.”
“I think I’m the only one that’s going to do the persuading.” Crawdaunt retaliated; Volta looked into Crawdaunt’s eyes to see a weird tint in the color that was not natural to a Crawdaunt’s eye color.
“He’s under a certain confusion attack; we’ll need to snap him out of hit.” Volta explained.
“Okay, Crawdaunt, we have no choice.”
Crawdaunt descended into the water.
“Sandraft! You go and get the Nidoran outside the cave. Then come back.” Volta directed and I found a ford across the fall’s river that was more of a well developed ford than the one out on the river.
I started to cross when Crawdaunt appeared out of the water in front of me and tried to take me under when Volta responded with a thunderbolt and Cutlass tackled him with fury cutter. Crawdaunt was knocked back in the water. I made it across and came over to the Nidoran.
“You two okay?”
“Yeah I think so.” The blue one struggled to say.
“Me too.”
“Good, come on!” I lead them out then I immediately returned.
I found that Volta was on Cutlass back like she was his rider. Cutlass was hovering above the water to await and see any sign of Crawdaunt. Then I saw some bubbling from behind of where Cutlass and Volta were looking.
“GUYS LOOK OUT!” but it was too late as two hydro pumps came out of the water and blasted Cutlass and threw him into the water where a whirlpool was starting up.
Volta and Cutlass were caught in the whirlpool. I didn’t know what to do, but then I remembered that if a water pokemon uses whirlpool, they are at the bottom of it. So I went over to the nearest boulder using strength I picked it up and threw it down the middle of the whirlpool to see Crawdaunt yell in agony. Volta and Cutlass broke free and swam to shore.
“Crap my wings are damp.” Cutlass explained, Volta over-panicked.
“I’ll be fine, I won’t be able to use them again today but I can still stride.” Cutlass reassured her.
Then Crawdaunt jumped out of the water at Volta but I was able get over to Crawdaunt and pick him up with seismic toss. Then I threw him at one of the cave walls. He crashed and Volta was able to finish him off with a thunderbolt. Crawdaunt was then knocked out.
“He’ll be fine,” I thought aloud,
“Sandraft, the last time you thought something was going to be fine was a Cornn berry bush that died the next day!” Volta snapped back.
“Take it easy Volta.” Cutlass stuck out one of his Scythes to protect me. “I’ll check on him.”
Cutlass walked over to the Crawdaunt to find him waking up.
“You okay fellow pokemon?” Cutlass asked.
“Ow! Yeah I think so, what happened?” Crawdaunt asked us.
“We think you may have been under a confusion of a sort. Volta over the one who can usually identify this kind of stuff but we have no idea what happened.” Cutlass explained.
“Thank you for snapping me out of whatever it was, what can I do for you?” Crawdaunt asked.
Volta stepped up. “Could you get us back to Royal City by using surf? After all the River of Latios does run through Royal City.”
“I see nothing wrong with that.”
I freaked out. “Volta are you insane!” My fear of water was overpowering me again. Although I should’ve known this would set her off again.
“Sandraft! If you fear the water so much you can cut through the desert, We’ll see you at Royal City in a couple hours time!”
At this I submitted. We all walked out of the Falls of Lugia to meet up with the two Nidoran. When they saw Crawdaunt was calm, they were relieved.
“You guys ready to go home?” Volta asked.
“As, ever.” They both responded in their annoying voices.
Volta boarded Crawdaunt’s head and the two Nidoran got in Crawdaunt’s claws when he opened them. I sat near the tail and Cutlass sat in the middle of Crawdaunt. Due to that we were swimming downstream we got back in a fourth of the time it took us to get up there.
“Thanks Crawdaunt,” Cutlass and Volta waved. I was nearly thanking because the chaotic experience was over.
When we entered Royal City we found ourselves passing by Team A.C.T.
“Hey is that-” Cutlass asked.
“YEAH IT IS!” I interrupted. I tried to ask for an autograph, but A.C.T. seemed to be too busy (or angry as it seemed) to be bothered at the time.
“Must be going on a dangerous mission,” Volta asked, “they always are, last mission they arrived at the Volcano of Entei to apparently face off against a small army of Magmars to save a Minum and Plusle.”
“Wow,” All I could say, and we reported back to Whiscash.
I already have the First Five or so done, You won't fin thisanic on Fanfiction.net because I just don't want to post it someplace I'l be expected to update evey week or so. So please tell me what you think and I'll post the next few chapters up later
Really good so far. Some backstory for the roleplay you made. :D
Well I would wait a couple more days but since no one else is catching on I'll just continue
Chapter 2
As we were reporting back to Whiscash. There was commotion from the voice of what we know was the Emperor! We stayed behind a corner to avoid butting in on an argument they were having. Here is what I heard:
“Due to False Information you handed A.C.T. we have found the remains of the Misdreavus they were looking for recovered by some civilians of the Regi Range, when you said it was in Celebi forest, that’s 4 kilometer overshot! How could you be so stupid?”
“My lord, I had checked the documents-”
“How many times? How many times have you checked it?”
“I assure you it was checked to protocol, five times. I really don’t know what happened when I just said the forest.-”
“I don’t give a crap for your mind and what you forgot, you SHOULDN’T forget you fat fish! If you make this mistake again I’ll have you exiled from Royal City. Does this at all encourage you?”
“It does well my lord.”
“Good.” We started to hear that the Emperor began to leave the fountain. All three of us hustled to bow before he could see us. The Nidoran were confused of our actions.
“Hello there, what are the five of you doing at the mid-day hour?” Our Emperor asked us, still tempered but a little calmer, guess he liked kids.
“Lord Centuron, we have just come back from our first mission. These Nidoran are the ones we have rescued.” Cutlass informed with his head still looking to the ground.
“Well done.” With that he left. The Flames around his neck were a little bit calmer after hearing that.
“That’s weird, Whiscash are intelligent creatures, wonder what came over him?” Volta asked.
“I honestly don’t know? Whiscash has the attention span at all times to make sure he doesn’t screw up like that.” I looked towards Volta. She nodded in agreement and we walked through the small path to the fountain.
“Well done Team Sandstrike… did you run into some trouble?”
I nodded. “A Crawdaunt actually.” I bet Cutlass and Volta didn’t realize it, but I was trying to slip into position of leadership. I never like taking orders from people I didn’t have to so this was an opportunity.
“Excellent, retrieving two one stage pokemon is 75 poke’ each along with defeating a second stage that’s a total of 375 poke’. Your next assignment will be distributed tomorrow morning. Your record will be update in the following hour. Please note that more successful missions along with your own evolutions will make you open for more dangerous missions.” Whiscash finished and handed us our reward. Due to that we had to use little supplies today, Volta decided to bank our cash.
As we were walking back to our own little H.Q. (my house, I just got to move from my parents so I bought a simple wooden round house with plenty of hay inside to sleep on.) Cutlass started talking.
“Well today I felt more alive than I have in ages.”
“Really how come.”
“I don’t know actually, I think I gained a level. Did I release off any rising blue aura?” Like every pokemon, we emit this weird aura from our bodies letting us know if we have leveled up, then we are backed with better skills and harder hits.
“You’d have to ask Volta, you two were side by side the whole time.”
“You’re right.”
“Well here we are.”
When we got inside, I went over to the fire pit I had and started to cook up some meat and berries. Volta came in a little afterward and she dropped her pack next to one of the open windows.
Cutlass asked the question to Volta only to get a solid ‘no’.
The next morning I was first to wake. I was still a little hungry since Cutlass ate over half the meat I cooked up.
Our next mission was actually in the Desert of Groudon. Volta knew I had every right to be happy but she still couldn’t see why someone would be happy in such extreme environment. Turns out, our mission was to make contact with a poor Cleffa.
Something that strikes us all odd was that the skies of the Desert were pitch black in rain clouds.
“I don’t get it. Why would it rain in the desert?” Volta asked pointing towards me knowing I would be the one with that kind of answer.
“You should be happy while I’m over here having probably a great time only to get rained on by the thing that gives me the creeps!” I folded up my arms. Scyther closed up his wings so they wouldn’t get damp like yesterday.
“Hey what’s that?” Volta pointed south where a black haze was developing.
“That is no where near natural!” Cutlass pointed out.
“Yeah but aren’t we nearby the Volcano’s of Entei.”
“Volta is your mind not functioning properly?” I snapped. “You know darn well that the Volcano’s of Entei smoke plume flows towards the Sea of Kyogre. In other words east of its location! Besides were still a kilometer away from there.”
“Praise Ho-oh on high what the heck is that?” Cutlass aimed his right scythe towards the haze where all I could make out was blood-red teeth like a bottom jaw but no top.
Then we heard a yell of pain. The haze died as rain came down afterward.
“What do you think that was?” I looked towards Cutlass. Usually the smartest is Volta but if she couldn’t even tell the Entei’s sub-region was too far away; I wasn’t trusting her with this.
“I don’t know but we have company!” Scyther prepared for battle in his usual ground position. I looked at where the haze used to be but all I found was a Houndoom. Flames came from his mouth and I stood out front and used a sand tomb to protect all three of us from it. The weird hint in his eyes was identical to the Crawdaunt’s.
“Could it be that he is under the same thing Crawdaunt was?” I asked as I tried to sustain the attack.
“That’s what I’m assuming.” Cutlass dashed behind the Houndoom and was about to strike him in the back when Houndoom zipped around with an iron tail which clashed with Cutlass’s scythes.
I came upside Houndoom with a mach punch only for him to twist to get a hold on me and throw me across the desert about a Gyrados distance away.
I saw Volta come upon him with a spark attack. Cutlass ran and slid to slice at his legs. But this Houndoom was fast and jumped over then kicked Cutlass. I was able to rejoin by now and use sandstorm. The tempest of sand pickup came coming from behind fast. Due to my type status I was unaffected. But all the others were.
When the sandstorm subdued I looked upon Cutlass and Volta buried under sand but the Houndoom was missing.
Then my sixth sense came and from behind me I could sense something dark. Too late I was tackled and pinned to the sand. But being sand I used rapid spin to make a ditch and used dig. I rose up from under Houndoom and lunged at my opponent. My head spike dug into his hide. He was blasted back and I landed on my feet. I decided to finish this with a mach punch against the Dark type.
Houndoom realized he wasn’t going to stick around much longer and dashed to the north. However much I wanted to finish him off I saw the possibility of catching up to him would be impossible.
I walked over to Cutlass and pulled him out and he then helped me with Volta, Only to start complaining.
“Sandraft! What were you thinking?”
“I was thinking of the only way to take down that dog! You got a problem with that Wooly!” (If I was to gain leadership I must not cower under her anger again.)
“Why you little!”
Cutlass stood between us having enough.
“Enough! Don’t we have a Cleffa to find, the Houndoom is gone so I suggest we get on with our mission!”
Volta used her hands in attempt to wipe off the sand that had caught in her wool.
Then we moved on to find something that was entirely unexpected.
We heard a high pitched squeal ahead of us. Cutlass dashed forward. Volta and I ran faster to find Cutlass had jumped off a plateau in the desert. About 20 stories below I saw him battling a whole pack (about 6) of Mightyena alone.
“C’mon Volta lets go!”
“Jump from here are you insane!”
“Have it your way!” I jumped from the ledge and landed on the packed but semi-soft sand. Due to my resistance of these kind of conditions my injuries were minor but I ran ahead and did the first thing I could think of.
I dashed into the Mightyenas and used sand tomb. Which whipped them from the ground and I tossed them over to the plateau’s solid side. Cutlass in-tuned himself with nature and activated a Silver wind. From above Volta provided some Thunderbolts.
I charged at one with mach punch when another came and bit me hard and lunged me into the air where another caught me and threw me to the ground. Although Cutlass was fast, and a skilled combatant. His fate was sealed and they tied him up with me (don’t ask me how they learned to use their teeth in that manner but they just did,) to find someone else also tied up with us
“Cleffa!” I excitedly yelled out.
“Hey Shut your trap!” One of the Mightyena growled.
“What are you gonna do? Shed on me?” Getting smart was the only way to win this emotional battle. But I knew anyway what lied ahead.
“Look who’s talking sand imp!” Another Mightyena mocked.
“I am looking at who’s talking you dirty hairball!”
“That’s it, I’ve had enough with him. Let’s eat.” Apparently the leader decided. They all started to close in on us.
“Not if we have something to say about it.” A strong voice as if from an older me came from behind.
I tried to turn my head only successfully twisting it halfway I saw our saviors.
“Team A.C.T.!”
Then a massive fire tornado came at the Mightyena. Followed by a huge mass of sand burying them and another fire attack. The Mightyena were stuck in a glass entrapment. Then the glass was immediately broken by a psychic attack and all of the wolves were unconscious.
Tyranitar came down and untied the Cleffa, Cutlass and I from our bondage.
“Thanks A.C.T.” I stood up and looked in their direction.
“Your welcome, but you must thank your fellow comrade the most.”
“Volta, or Cutlass?”
“Volta, she used the badge of hers to call in for help.” The Charizard looked to me.
“Thankfully we were coming back from the Ice caps of Suicune.” Alakazam finished. Then Volta walked up.
“At least one of us had the sense to call for help here. You know darn well we could’ve never taken them down.”
Maybe it was my ego that I didn’t call in but then again I wasn’t thinking clearly either.
“At least two of us see a problem and then confront it. Instead of worrying about a small ledge.” I laughed knowing I had just won the argument.
“Well, do the three of you have any more business here?” Charizard came up.
“No apparently this is the Cleffa we were looking for.” Cutlass pointed to the cute little thing with his scythe.
“Okay, we’ll be off.” The three titans began to dash out.
“Well we have the Cleffa, um Cleffa how’d you get here?”
“It was weird. My parents and I were coming back from some herb scavenging out in the plains when the Mightyena ambushed us on the road and carried me in the desert.” Cleffa finished. I couldn’t help but pick her up due to her incredible cuteness and try to make her feel safe.
“Well your safe now. Your parents are in Royal city awaiting your return. Believe me, they were willing to start their own team to go save you.” I rocked the Cleffa gently. In which she soon afterward fell asleep. It would be about 3 hours until we got out of the desert. Probably the only time in my life, I would be happy to leave it.
“Hey guys I just thought of something.” Cutlass began “why are all the pokemon we faced that have been acting weird were all Dark type?”
“That doesn’t mean anything. Remember A.C.T. fought off a small army of Magmar and Team Swarm had taken on a whole company of Bayleef.” Volta must’ve been thinking he was prejudice.
“Sorry.” That was the last thing any of us said until we would arrive at Royal City.
Yes, really good. Very. I'm even thinking I know what they saw in the haze, though I could be wrong.
Here’s the list of their attacks. (Just to let you know)
Volta: Thunderbolt, Spark, Tackle, Thundershock, Headbutt, Quick attack, Cotton Spore, Iron Tail.
Sandraft: Strength, Seismic toss, Sand Tomb, Mach Punch, Sandstorm, Rapid Spin, Dig, Megahorn
Cutlass: Fury Cutter, Silver Wind, Aerial ace, X-scissor, Wing attack, Cut, Slash, Bite
Next morning we decided to get some hold items with the rewards money we were able to save up. We found some Amulets in our price range that had a Sharpedo tooth. Apparently it was to give us an edge in speed and attack. The sound of that pleased Cutlass (like he needs to be any faster?) Oh well.
Our assignment was one I wasn’t really sure about. I’ll let you know that the Forest of Celebi is the largest sub-region of this continent, with Regi-Range right after that. Our assignment was to somehow find a Pichu? Excuse me? How in all of Royal City were we to find a mouse in that massive forest? I tried my hardest not to complain. But it was hard. It would be an overnight trip there and back. Not to mention how long we’ll be in the accursed forest (well maybe it was my imagination that thought it was accursed, but unlike Volta, I don’t take those kinds of chances.)
We began to head out early that morning trying to keep the sun behind us was going to lighten our spirits, I guess… Volta tried all she could. Knowing I was going to be experiencing a nightmare again I guess she even has a soft side…sometimes.
“Sandraft, it’s not that bad.”
“Name something worse.”
“…um…”
“See? Okay trying not to focus on that lets think how we want to get around.”
Cutlass got into the conversation.
“If we follow the road we’ll have to loop around the mountains of Regirock. Let’s say screw the conditions and get through. The sooner we get to that Pichu the better.”
“But…” Volta began but I gave her a stern look saying I’ve made the darn sacrifices to go into the falls, and now I’m heading to a deathtrap and you can’t brave some wimpy mountains? Volta realized what my expression was telling her. She backed off.
Our sights came upon the mountains that ripped out of the ground in front of us. By crossing these we would make it to the forest before night came, instead of taking the road and be there by tomorrow.
I was the first to step into the sub-region. I quickly found a pass and began walking in.
As we pushed our way through many roadblocks of rock were in our way, I used dig and carved through them like a hammer and chisel would do to shale rock.
I think we were about halfway through the jagged peaks when I heard a disturbing roar from behind.
“AIIIERRRRERRRRHHH!” It echoed loud enough for all of us to hold our ears.
“God, It can’t be…” I started to say.
“A STEELIX!” Cutlass cried out. We all started running and out from behind us came the massive steel snake chasing us down the narrow ravine, sounds of crumbling boulders screeched against his metal body. I knew that I’d be the only one to delay it’s acceleration towards us as it was coming closer.
“Guy’s keep running!” I stopped there and turned around where the Steelix was in a frenzy and speeding towards me. I held my arms in a cross and shot them high in the air. A Sand Tomb whipped up forming a defensive barrier between me and the massive steel snake.
I dashed off, but it wasn’t long before the Steelix made through. There was nowhere to run but forward. Then a dragon breath was shot at me, flew me through the air and crash landed on the ground. Pain screamed all across my body, and I began to close my eyes falling asleep…
When I woke up I found myself in a dark cave. The Steelix that had attacked me was curdled up in a sleep. I had no idea where I was, my belongings were in a heap far away from me, my wallet pouch that held a few berries, my badge, and my Sharpedo tooth amulet.
I had no idea if this hostile was alert to what was around him. But I had to try to escape him, Cutlass and Volta wouldn’t stand a chance against him. But a more experienced team could. I figured that he could sense pulsations through the rock while he was asleep so one option remained.
Silently I formed a Sand tomb (this move is helpful isn’t it?) and I aimed the sand at the distance between me and my stuff. I began to crawl over the sand slowly. I grabbed my badge and walked back to my spot where the Steelix had placed me. I activated the emergency call button, hoping someone strong enough would come to my rescue.
I began to think of where Volta and Cutlass were. I didn’t know how long I was down here, or had they been captured either. The ideas came to me as a shock as I tried to revert my direction of concern.
You know how waiting for something to happen in a boring situation with nothing to do can make a minute seem like an hour? Well I must have been there for days because it sure felt like that. Then I heard a clanging metal sound that was irreplaceable.
It was Cutlass, I was sure of it, or someone similar to a Cutlass. Then Steelix woke up and I quickly began to act as if I was asleep. Then I felt a tremor in the ground. That was a magnitude of a 6 level, for sure. I think the Steelix was getting quite annoyed cause I think it left.
I felt it was safe to start getting the heck out of here. That’s exactly what I did, assuming that the Steelix was heading out of the cave; I followed the echoes.
When heading to the exit I noticed that the Steelix was in a fight with a Scizor, a Rapidash, and a Sceptile. Avoiding optical contact with the Steelix, I snuck behind some stalagmites. I then ran for my life, not knowing where I was going, I was just praying I was heading in a direction that was leading me out of it. And I was, I began to see massive Sequoia trees going even higher than some of the mountains. I was approaching the Forest of Celebi.
When I got out of the mountains I saw a familiar face.
“Volta? Cutlass?”
“NO my name Wooly and his name in Bugger. Of course it’s us!” Volta mocked me.
“Guys, enlighten me on past events after I was taken away.”
“Well, we followed the Steelix to where he took you. Our badges began to go crazy when you activated the emergency call. Thankfully Team Fireblade was around to help.” Volta stated feeling proud for some odd reason even though she didn’t do anything.
“Well we have a job to do. Whiscash is desperate to make sure no missions are called off because of his current reputation so he wouldn’t let us go on this one.” Cutlass started walking inward towards the forest. Although I just left a certain heck, I was embracing another.
As we walked into the forest the dense underbrush was getting in my way. Due to my fear of plants I didn’t touch it so I had Volta was in front. So when she held branches as we walked, she released them when I was where they’d snap back into place (or in my face). Trust me it wasn’t a fun experience. And every time I tried to get near Cutlass (knowing he was going to be nicer about it) Volta blocked my way.
The massive Sequoia trees were high in the air. Decent light came down, not too many smaller trees were in this forest, obviously, the Sequoia took too much sunlight for themselves, and root space to add on. But like every forest the underbrush was dense and the roots made natural steps up and down the forest small hills. Small dirt paths that had no real sense of direction were rare, small streams were more common.
Now you think the forest would be heavily populated with all different kind of pokemon enjoying the abundance of foods. Like I said, almost all of the pokemon that were still sane had retreated to Royal City. So finding a friendly face was going to be a hard catch. Or finding a face at all.
“Where would be a likely location to find this Pichu?” I asked getting annoyed of the forest.
“We’re not sure.” Cutlass was fed up of the forest himself and began to hack at anything in his way.
“I’m sure we can help.” A voice came from the side and A Heracross, Butterfree, and a Ninjask swooped out in front of us.
“Team Swarm?” I was amazed to see them.
“That’s us.” The Heracross (whose name is Crosswing.) I began to think back at their record for second most enemies defeated in one rescue mission.
“Said something about a Pichu right?” Ninjask was speeding through the air; I realized his speed boost ability was in effect.
“Yeah.” Volta was happy for the help.
“Well we recently saw one taken by a Sharpedo into open sea.” Butterfree was depressed.
“And you didn’t go after him?” As you can see, I was angry by how they stood back and watched a poor electric type taken away like that.
“Hey we followed the shark! Then we got ambushed by the pack!” Ninjask got angry
“But Sharpedo are solo? Why would they be in a pack?” Volta asked.
“Things have been weird for the last year. Out of all the weird things that have been happening I don’t think a Sharpedo pack is that big of a deal.” Cutlass answered for Team Swarm.
“Well do you have an idea where they went?” We needed some lead if we were to bring back that Pichu.”
“Yeah to a far off island I guess, what we saw was a veil of darkness a kilometer of shore. That’s where they were heading.” Butterfree rounded up the conversation. “Now if you excuse us, we have some Silcoon and Cascoon to find.” With that they left.
“Veil of Darkness?” My curiosity took a hold of me.
“Yeah there have been reports lately that most of the pokemon taken by the others are always moving closer to the shore to then be taken away by Sharpedo or some other of the rough sea pokemon.” Cutlass filled in.
“What about that haze we saw the other day,” I said, remembering the massive red bottom jaw teeth.
“Well let’s tie together what we know.” Volta volunteered. “We know that Sharpedo herds and other dangerous water pokemon, are taking pokemon that were captured to a Veil of Darkness a kilometer off shore. We do know that there are rapid pokemon out there taking the innocent and dragging them to the seafront, only to be taken away by what we’ll call ‘Transport’. And we do know the rabid pokemon are under a certain confusion attack that is broken by pitch combat and successfully fainting your opponent.” Volta decided to sit down on a rock. Being one of the few rocks in the area, she did that to purposely annoy me since I had to sit on the grass.
“Maybe there less fluff in your head than I thought.” I cracked at her.
“Sandraft, you’ve got more rocks in your head than a Geodude. Don’t try to start that on me!”
“Guy’s we have a problem...” Cutlass was looking in the opposite direction of us; we saw a bad fate was upon us.
I don’t think anyone has ever seen this pokemon before. It had a shark-look with a red underbelly and a yellow tab under that. It’s tail was that of a sharks. It’s feet were similar to Cutlass’s development of feet. It’s arms held a wing like structure and a claw at the end. It’s eyes were probably yellow but had the same hint that every other pokemon they had seen going rapid had. A dorsal fin stuck out from behind him. On his nose was a yellow star symbol similar to a Sharpedo. It’s body was of a magnificent blue. Besides it head were two floatation bobber-like devices. This titan was probably 5 meters high,
“What is that?” I pointed to the titan.
“Something new.” Cutlass readied his blades. Volta started to get her electricity revved up.
The shark-like titan ran at us with it’s wing like structure shining a red and blue aura. Cutlass met him head on with his blades. While Volta tried to use thunderbolt. But it had no effect.
“It must be part ground type” I brought up and used Megahorn in his face. He then fended with one of his arms and slammed me to the ground. Whatever this pokemon was, it wasn’t going to go down easy. Then a blue echo-like aura shot out of it’s mouth at me. Volta got in front and used spark to hold it off as I got up and then I saw Cutlass use aerial ace at the back of the pokemon. His tail was the first to respond. This thing was just too tough. I tried to think of a possibility that would work. I then dug underground; I quickly rose out of the ground beneath. But to find my target was not there anymore. Instead I found myself kicked into a tree.
I saw Cutlass use X-scissor causing some slight damage. Volta used quick attack on the shark but with little effect. Then an Earthquake began when the titan roared. Although the massive roots were sustaining the loose soil packed forest, still tears in the ground formed and rocks shot up attempting to attack us. We tried our best to dodge but it was like dodging a massive attack in a small tunnel. Then the unspeakable happened. A sequoia tree came falling down upon the titan. He was too concentrated in his attack to noticed it coming. We thought for sure he was going to die.
We were wrong.
In one sudden movement, the tree was shattered and the Titan arose again; weakened, but not down. Then he said something.
“Futile pokemon, stand aside as the return of the Nira is upon us.” The voice was strong, the voice you would hear coming from Rayquaza.
“We can’t stand aside for something we have no idea what it is.” Volta mouthed off.
“The entity of Shadow will fall to Darkness!”
“What are you talking about?!” Cutlass stepped forward.
“Why should I explain myself to the likes of you!” A flamethrower shot out of his mouth at Cutlass. I jumped in to get him out of the way while the fire attack did little to me.
Cutlass revved up a silver wind and aimed at the shark humanoid’s underbelly.
“Go in for attack, this’ll cover you!” Volta and I nodded.
Volta used Iron tail and aimed for his head. I came at him with Mach punch. But he operated his arms and blasted us off like flies.
I didn’t know how long the three of us would last. But something was upon me. My body began to sparkle white and a coat of sparkling aura appeared. I couldn’t believe it. I WAS EVOLVING!
I realized that I had no longer any appendages. So I came head on with headbutt. The Titan lifted his right arm and the wing structure blocked my attack. But at the same time Scyther came up at the titan and with a slash attack, the shark tried to parry with his left wing. I fell to the ground and rammed into his right leg. That delayed him for long enough to have Cutlass come up behind with X-Scissor. Then when he was on his front, we all readied for our last attack.
Volta slammed with Iron Tail, I used an impacting Headbutt, and a very critical Slash attack were combined to make the final attack. Whatever the pokemon was, it was finished.
We all were worn out from the battle. The Titan did not stay asleep for long. It got up and faced us. The hint from his eyes was gone.
“Where am I?” The titan was confused.
“You are in the Forest of Celebi,” I started, “Where are you from stranger.”
“Not of this land, I’ve never heard of the Forest of Celebi.”
“If you don’t mind my asking, what are you?”
He took a bow to us and repeated these words “I am Dragonfang, I’m a Garchomp: the Dragon/Ground species of the Lands of Arceus.”
WOW :o I`m amazed!
The story is not only written good, it`s also exciting!
Just 1 quick question...
how long does it take to type up a chapter?;)
About an hour or two. Not that long, but the first six chapters were written a while back.
Glad that you like it
“So you say the titan you described was from a place called the Lands of Arceus?” Whiscash asked trying to make sense of what we were telling him.
“Yes!” I responded, and we all nodded.
His attitude changed as if someone entirely different took over, “Although your mission to rescue the Pichu was a failure, could this possibly be a cover up for your incompetence?!”
“No! Team Swarm informed us the Pichu was taken away by a pack of Sharpedo! If we could swim we would, but we can’t.” Volta panicked and tried to calm down.
“But, surprisingly the description of this ‘Garchomp’ is relatively similar to a Sharpedo. And knowing when people panic, they will make up anything off the top of their head.”
“So what we don’t have the ability to decide what comes at us and starts attacking us!” Cutlass was ticked off; you could see it in his eyes.
“Enough! I want no more of this! There is no archive of a Garchomp, or Lands of Arceus. Another word about my decision not to believe you and you won’t see another thing outside this city.” When he finished, I thought I saw something flicker. Choosing to ignore it, we left.
None of us were in a good mood when we got back to our H.Q.
“How could that fish not realize we were telling the truth!” Volta was very angry at the situation, I couldn’t blame her. She crossed her arms and legs and her face was ready to tear the city apart.
I noticed Cutlass went over to the fire pit; he was apparently cutting some meat up. I would help him if I had arms any more. Volta sat on the hay with her arms crossed.
“Better yet, why didn’t this ‘Garchomp’ stay with us? He could’ve proven to the fat fish we were right.” I noticed that since I was a solid shape there was not much I could do to show I was angry. So the only option was to make the expression through my eyes.
“Well at least we made it back, that ‘Garchomp’ was about to kill us.” Cutlass attempted to lighten the mood as he slapped some cuts on the skillet that hung over the fire pit.
“All thanks to me evolving.” Shifting my body slightly to the side showing off my structure.
“Sandraft, you do realize you’re going to have to stay in the suspended state for twenty-five levels.” Obviously you knew my reaction.
“At least I’m stronger.” I didn’t know too much to come back with the only thing I could think of.
“Yeah, yeah, It won’t be long for my evolution,” Volta began to fall back. I guess being an Ampharos for her was a dream come true.
“You guys actually know when you’re going to evolve. I have to find a metal coat, you know how rare those are?!” Cutlass came over and handed me a plate of some seasoned meat. He had something similar on his plate. While Volta dashed outside and plucked some berries of my berry bushes! I decided that after tonight I would apply a rule to those bushes that no one besides me can touch them. I would have to write it down; I always forget these kinds of things. But then I remembered I had no hands. Man life is going to suck till I evolve.
So I went around my attention span problems and told Volta and Cutlass now.
“Guys, when it comes to my bushes; you cannot touch them without my permission. Also the quantity of berries and from which berries, when it comes to Lum berries, they are simply only to be touched by me.” I stated feeling powerful.
“Sandraft that’s ridiculous! I planted half of those bushes!” She got up and posed the average angry ready-to-battle stance.”
“Hey when you spend a years worth of hard earned Poke’ on a house, buy all the berry seeds, tend the land, and then let your friends stay due to a rescue team agreement than you’ll know how I feel.” I closed my eyes feeling even more powerful than before.
“Humph!” Volta crossed her arms knowing I won the argument in a land slide victory. Something I never understood is that we’re friends but we’re constantly at the others throat. Maybe it just that we were both at a competitive stage at the time.
“Okay, shall we make sense of the Garchomp?” Cutlass asked.
“Guess it’d be for the best, Okay so now we know there is another region called the lands of Arceus, but we have no idea what’s there besides the fact of a Titan animal that could be an evolution of Sharpedo.” Volta brought up.
“But it’s surrounded by a veil of darkness. And there is a coming age of Nira?” I added
“Remember, Dragonfang mentioned that the entity of shadow will fall to darkness, isn’t that rather redundant?” Cutlass brought up
“What does that have to do with Nira?” Volta got confused.
“Context clues Volta, we learned about them in the class before we were able to become a rescue team,” I closed my eyes feeling good about myself again. “He wouldn’t have mentioned about the enities if it didn’t have anything to do with Nira.”
“Even so…” Volta tried to comeback.
Next morning our assignment was something that Cutlass finally got to experience hell for once. Yeah, our next destination was the molten range of Entei. But bad conditions never got Cutlass down. Well the pokemon we were supposed to recon was a Vulpix actually, which made me wonder…
We shortcut through the desert and were at the range before we knew it. Overall I thought I could see about 4 small volcanoes about a quarter kilometer away from each other. Overhead, I could see heavy smoke cover the sky, not much light was available. Most of the light shone from the molten lava.
The ash under my body was soft, so I rolled around in it. I know I was acting like a child but my bottom tip of my chrysalis was worn out from all the hopping lately.
“Sandraft stop acting like a little kid,” Volta grabbed me from off the ground. Again having no appendages I could bat her arm off.
“Come on, how’d you like it if you had one foot that had to pound on sharp rocks every time you took a step just so you could walk?” It was my turn to snap at her.
“…good point, well some people are just lucky,” she gave her common evil smile.
“Never mind that, there’s a Vulpix around here, and we’re going to have to find it somewhere,” Cutlass redirected us, trying to get his mind off the fire. From his expression, it wasn’t working.
We spent the next hour hiking the range until we ran into a familiar face; Dragonfang. However, he was on the ground…unconscious.
“Dragonfang? I remember him leaving after telling us where he came from. But what’s he doing here. I thought he would’ve head back to his homeland.” I began, I was going to continue when Volta cut me off.
“Well he said he was in a crisis situation.” Volta looked down at him. Remembering the rest of the conversation we had with him.
“Never mind that, Volta you got anything to revive him?”
“Yes actually,” She reached into her slouch pack, and pulled out a berry I couldn’t identify. She cracked it open and squirted the juice into his gaping mouth.
He then immediately woke up on the spot, he put his right claw to his head must’ve been because his head hurts.
“Volta? Cutlass? Sandraft?”
“Yours truly” I added.
“What are you three doing here?”
“Correction,” Volta began pointed her right nub at him. “What are YOU still DOING here? We’re a rescue team; we have every right to be here.”
“I guess I should come clean huh?” He stood up and began to speak.
“Yes, it would be nice to know what tourist’s intend to do with our resort.” making a remark.
Dragonfang sighed “…Back in the lands of Arceus there’s been a war for the past 10 years. Strangely we haven’t been able to contact Darkrai for the past year. All of our other guardians are present during the war though, of course they’ve taken sides.”
“Who’s Darkrai?” I asked.
“Darkrai is the ghost guardian of the Lands of Arceus. Anyway Darkrai, like I said, has been missing. But it gets even weirder, a lot of other massive pokemon came to our homeland only strengthening the fight not even a year ago. Me and my friends; Mamoswine, Magmortar, Yanmega, Mismagius, and Rampardos decided to leave to seek safe province like many have done before us. But when we saw a Veil of shadow we decided we’d have to cross it in order to escape. That’s when everything went wrong, the last thing I remembered is when you three awoke me in what you call; the Forest of Celebi.”
“So now you’re traveling our region aimlessly why?” Volta asked with a rude tone.
“I’M TRAVELING YOUR REGION SEEKING FOR MY LIFE-LONG FRIENDS IN PLACES I SUSPECT THEM TO BE. FOR INSTANCE I WAS THINKING MAGMORTAR WOULD’VE COME HERE.”
At that point Volta shut her trap, thank god.
“Dragonfang, that doesn’t explain why you were knocked out. And what do they look like; I’ve never heard of them before.”
“I was knocked out by Magmortar actually, I found him but he defeated me. Magmortar is a Fire Titan with Cannon like arms. I noticed that this land has Magmar in it so I’ll let you know he’s an evolution to them. Yanmega is a green hornet with red eyes; yes he is the evolution of Yanma if you have any of them here. Mismagius is purple with a skirt like body, her head is topped with a certain kind of hat look; as well she is the evolution to what is Misdreavus if such exists here. Mamoswine is probably the deadliest of all of us, he has massive horns perfect for ramming; if you have ever heard of a Swinub or Piloswine, he’s their evolution. While last but not least is Rampardos, she’s a dinosaur with a bulging skull and many horns at her front. If you find her in the state I was in, I suggest not messing with her.”
“Dragonfang, did you happen to see a Vulpix?” I wondered trying to keep us on track.
“I’m not sure…Magmortar was carrying something with him when he blasted me in the face with his attack, why?”
“Our assignment was looking for a captive Vulpix,” I answered.
“Then let’s go find Magmortar,” Cutlass tried to speed us up.
We began to hike again, Dragonfang took a lead trying to see if he could find Magmortar up ahead.
“If the sky was clear,” He began, “I would take to it to find him, but the smoke plume blocks any vision.” He explained it, although it wasn’t until then we found out he could fly. “It’s actually pretty interesting, it’s more of gliding actually but my wing structure,” he shook his right arm “actually gives me the passage to take flight.”
Again we crossed the gaping mountains, hoping for any signs of a fire titan. But we had no success.
Then as we were passing one of the Volcanoes on a mountain to the left of it, Volta began to complain.
“How far could this thing go?” She began.
“Well I really don’t know how long I was out for, he could be leagues from here.” Dragonfang explained.
“I’m tired! He could’ve possibly left this sub-region for all we know!” She began to stomp the hard earth but it was only hurting her own feet I could tell.
Cutlass came in with his supportive self, “Hey I got something that could make you feel better.” He began think of a joke telling his facial expression. That’s when it happened, a fireball from the volcano’s direction came straight for the side of Volta’s head and she fell to the ground.
“HOW’S THAT SUPPOSED TO MAKE ME FEEL BETTER!”
I couldn’t help but say this, “Made me feel better.”
“We found him…” Dragonfang began.
Volta got up and all three of us saw the Fire Titan for the first time. He looked like his whole body situated around his ball-shaped torso that had patterns of flames on it. His head was small and semi-frog like with a trail of what looked like fire shaped structure sticking out his head. He had massive circular feet and Arms that were like cannons with claws at the end.
Clutched under his right arm I could see exactly what we were looking for. It was a Vulpix but not any Vulpix, it was the Shiny one, meaning she was golden-tan with light-orange hair on it’s head and tails. Not also was this the shiny Vulpix, but she was one of my best friends. Only encouraging me to fight harder now.
We found that Magmortar was on the Volcano’s side and was actually running towards us. In order to do that though he was going to have to run down the 45 degree angle that was on the Volcano then go up the 80 degree angle slope that we were next to.
Garchomp looked towards us, “Cutlass, we’re not going to wait for him to get up here; that’s how he wins, you jump down and I’ll carry Volta and Sandraft with me as I go down.”
Cutlass nodded, and Dragonfang picked me and Volta off the ground. He jumped down from the mountainside and we found ourselves now face to face with the titan. Then a tremor could be heard in front of us, the Volcano was erupting.
“This is going to be good,” The Magmortar began. He tossed the Vulpix way behind him; I could now see the hint in his eyes.
Dragonfang charged right at him and met him straight on claw against cannon arm. But Magmortar easily pushed him back, he saw me coming to head butt him when he fired a fireball straight at my face. I was blasted back similar to what the Houndoom did to me the other day. I saw Volta try to zap him when he picked up a boulder and the attack was absorbed he then threw the boulder at Dragonfang who was trying to get up already.
Cutlass came at him with Aerial Ace which slashed him across the face. He then whacked him to the ground with his arm. Volta was going to rev up a Thunderbolt when Magmortar ran to her, grabbed her and threw her into me as I was coming at him.
When she came and crashed on me I found that she was on top of me. I saw her blush and I bet I was too.
I began, “Man, if this is how hard Magmortar is I can’t wait to meet Mamoswine.” Remembering that Dragonfang told us Mamoswine was the deadliest of them all.
Volta got up not saying a word, I jumped up.
Dragonfang had rejoined the battle and fired a Hyper Beam right at Magmortar who was trying to stop it with Flamethrower but it was obvious which attack would win this.
Magmortar fell back, giving us all a moment to attack him. Volta fired a shock wave as I came at him with headbutt, Dragonfang used the bluish echo attack Dragon pulse which Cutlass began to hack at him.
However Magmortar was smarter than we thought, he apparently used overheat which blasted at all of us and pushed us back again! You wouldn’t believe how annoyed I was getting. Then from behind Magmortar I saw the Lava cascading from the mountain. It was right behind him now; the shiny Vulpix ran past him and jumped at me.
“Sandraft!”
“Hi Firestorm,” Remembering my good friend.
Garchomp grabbed Volta, Firestorm, and I and he jumped back up on the mountainside, Cutlass flew up.
But Magmortar wasn’t done yet; he jumped up on the mountainside right behind us. He aimed a cannon at me and fired and I fell back, he began to speak.
“Nira, the age of Nira is upon us, flesh lings.” His voice was the same as Dragonfang’s was when he was under that possessed state, “Stand aside and watch as the shadow falls to the power of my hand!” It was almost like something was speaking through him.
Magmortar kicked Cutlass and Dragonfang tried to fend him by using Dragon Rush. Dragonfang enveloped in a blue and red aura and crashed into Magmortar head on. He stumbled and almost slid off the edge, I knew what I had to do, I got back up and tackled him in the head. Magmortar and I began to fall off the edge and I took my last course of action in my life to be noble.
But my life didn’t end there, Dragonfang and Cutlass were dive-bombing trying to catch up to Magmortar and I. Cutlass snatched me and Dragonfang grabbed Magmortar and used strength to throw him back up the mountainside. I would live to see tomorrow.
Magmortar was knocked out finally and I rested my head as Cutlass placed me down.
We sat there and healed up by munching on some berries. I began talking to Firestorm as I laid down.
“Firestorm how long has it been?” I asked.
“Three years,” She told me.
“Sandraft, who is she?” Volta asked me.
“Volta, Firestorm and I have been friends since a week we both came out of our eggs. We haven’t been able to contact each other after her family moved out here and I became really worried about her when the disappearing began.
“Oh…”
We talked for a little longer when Magmortar woke up. Dragonfang was happy to see him awake.
“Torchwood, glad to see your doing well.”
“Dragonfang? Where are the others?” He asked.
“Scattered across the region we are now on called the Lands of Ho-oh.
“Ho-oh?”
“I’ll explain everything, once we make it back to wherever the three who found me go to recover.” He pointed towards Volta, Cutlass, and I.
“Oh, I’ve never seen pokemon of your species before,” He looked at us.
“We could say the same,” Volta replied.
Hours later we were in front of Whiscash, this time he was shocked to see the two.
“Oh my,” He began. “So you’re a Garchomp, and you’re a?”
“Magmortar, our names are Torchwood, and Dragonfang.” Torchwood finished up.
Whiscash looked at the three of us, “Wow that entitles Sandstrike to 600 poke’ but the both of you,” He looked towards Torchwood and Dragonfang. “You’ll have to see our lord before you can roam the city. Sandstrike will accompany you, as for you little Vulpix, you’ll have to go to a quarters of some sort.
I told Firestorm the directions to my house and she thanked me and left.
All this new information about the frontier was very new and odd. Whatever would come of this, I prayed it would only benefit.
Man, we finally see Dragonfang... cool. So, what, this is set after the roleplay?
^actually the roleplay was only a modification of this story. I couldn't really tell you guys that we couldn't use Sinnoh pokemon and if i did the deeper plot would've already been revealed. So no the events of the roleplay are not intertwined with this in any way
