I traded for a Japanese Luxray over Wi-fi a few minutes ago, and I have a feeling that he needs a new moveset, but I have no idea what to give moves to give him.
Luxray
Level - 47
Item - None
Nature - Quiet
Moves -
Bite
Crunch
Charge
Spark
Any move and/or item suggestions?
My recommendation would be
Thunderbolt/Thunder Fang/Thunder
Crunch
Iron Tail/Signal Beam*/Superpower*
Ice Fang**/Rain Dance
*=Only through Platinum's move tutors
**=Egg move
You could always use an Action Replay
@DVB: Why recommend egg moves? He's talking about a Pokemon he already has. You can't just give it an egg move. :P Also, he wouldn't seriously waste shards on that Luxray, assuming he has Platinum... Not to mention people like me despise the AR...
Anyways, I wouldn't use that Luxray, I'd breed another. But if you insist, for in-game, just slap on:
-Thunder Fang
-Crunch
-Quick Attack
-Spark (for the PP)
I wouldn't bother with Luxray. Electivire's the way to go.
No, I believe the only use for that Luxray is in-game. Luxray is fine in-game. An in-game Electivire would be a waste of an Electirizer.
She XD (Don't worry, I get mistaken for a he at school all the time)
I don't have Platinum. All I've got is Diamond. I have an AR, but I don't really like using it.
I have an Electivire I got from PBR, but I'm not too fond of them. I have a habit of using Pokes that I like. Actually, that's how most of my friends are. I'm too busy getting the HP I want for my Eevee-soon-to-be-Jolteon to breed another Luxray. Maybe after I get my Jolteon I will.
Anyway, thanks for the suggestions. Now I have to go be Hawkie's "slave" -facekeyboard-
-random- Gosh he has low speed. Only one point above my Lv. 38 Pikachu XD
the best moveset for Luxray is
Ice fang
Fire Fang
Spark/Thunder Fang
Crunch
the reason spark is there is that it has more accuracy than Thunder Fang, as Luxray is primarily a physical electric pokemon its moveset is a bit lacking to be honest but that moveset gives you the best coverage against pokemon that could kill it easily.
I think this should be a good in-game set for Luxray.Just a suggestion.Shoal Salt can be substituted for Leftovers.
Luxray @ Leftovers
-Ice Fang
-Spark
-Thunder Wave/Filler
-Crunch
>_>
~ Spark
~ Crunch
~ Superpower
~ Giga Impact
in-game, Luxray's best use is pure offense. Spark is better than Thunder Fang because it has more PP and a much-better chance of paralysis, and Luxray isn't fast enough for T-Fang's chance of flinch to really make a difference. Crunch is Luxray's other main weapon, and makes it deadly for Ghosts and Psychics alike. Superpower imo is worth the use of Shards (it's not particularly hard to dig up more), as it provides a solid hit on Rock/Ground types like Golem, as well as Electric-resisting steels like Steelix and Magnezone. Giga Impact likely won't be used very often, but it provides a very powerful neutral hit to take a foe out quickly, or if you're going to be KOed the next turn anyway, and you want to go out strong.
Without breeding, that's probably the best in-game Luxray moveset you're going to get. You COULD try Thunder Wave over Giga Impact, but I'm willing to bet that Luxray won't last very long to make use of it. Without any real defensive stats, you have to hit hard and fast.
Discharge is good and so is Thunder Fang
