And why do you want an AR? They're no fun, and they screw up your game. I'm probably the only gamer who is such an anti-AR freak, proud to say I've NEVER used one in my life, on my game, or anyone else's, or (knowingly, don't know about those GTS Pokemon) used a hacked Pokemon. Stupid ARs, they ruin the point of the game. :/

It doesn't matter how far away anyone is, they can still access her internet connection and mess about with it.

Anyway, we can't seem to find the receipt that shows we spent 5 bucks already pre-ordering it, and my mother didn't want to waste 5 bucks paying in full for a game straight-up (she's being very thrifty, for once), but she said if we didn't find it by tonight, we'd just buy the game straight-up tomorrow. So I'm not complaining too much. I'll still have Platinum within a week of it coming out, whereas I had to wait like 5 months to get Diamond....so, not too bad.
I'm going to take Turtwig as my starter, but only so I can exploit the Chimchar line's crappy defenses when I battle my rival....I'll dump it in the PC after I use it to catch a Bidoof.
Then I'll use Bidoof/Bibarel to blitz through the early towns (Bibarel with Rock Smash, with a Budew assist, will handle Roark well enough), until I beat the Eterna Gym. Then I'll dump Bibarel in the PC, too, catching a Heracross and Drifloon through Honey Trees and Weekly Friday Encounter to use as the core of my team....
Once I've got these 2 to head my lineup, I can just use them until I add new roster additions a little later on - Eevee from Bebe in Hearthome (into either Leafeon or Vaporeon, not sure which), Houndour on the route just past Solaceon, Cranidos from a fossil, Shellos in the Windworks....I'll be mixing and matching throughout the game, I suspect. For my final E4-beating roster, I hope to use;

Oh man, you have no idea either how I obsess over my Elite 4 team. I always try to go for something different every time I play, and Platinum has made it convenient. I'm currently going to go Empoleon, Scizor, Pikachu/Raichu, and Glaceon, with Tropius (hooray Great Marsh!) and Bibarel on HM duty. Not the greatest type coverage, but I like the challenge.
I used my Infernape (which I randomly nicknamed WAKA, stupid 5-character limit in Japanese) and my Gastrodon, who was the main focus of my team, and he was higher-leveled than my WAKA.
The Mob, use Turtwig against Roark before dumping it.
And, just so you all know, the Elite Four are a HECK of a lot harder in Plat. I didn't really think they'd be, but they really are - you have to see play it to believe it.
