Hi all,
I planned on going to Lisbon, Portugal over April Vacation, but we decided against it. However, I now have tickets to go to Lisbon from Thursday the 22nd through Tuesday the 26th. And I got them $300 USD off each.
...The reason? The swine flu. :P Nobody's traveling for fear of contracting it. So we get lots of money off. :P
I'm going to see the Oceanarium there, which hosts Mantas, Barracudas, Sea Otters, Japanese Spider Crabs (which I've already seen in Atlanta), and the Ocean Sunfish - the world's largest bony (non-cartiligous) fish.
Yeah, I'm obsessed by marine life... I've already been to the New England Aquarium in Boston, MA, the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, GA, and the Mystic Aquarium in Mystic, CT. And with just those three aquaria, I've seen several notable species, including:
Whale Shark
Manta Ray
Giant Grouper
Great Barracuda
Great Hammerhead Shark
Zebra Shark
Beluga Whale
Japanese Spider Crab
Sand Tiger (Grey Nurse) Shark
Nurse Shark
Atlantic Tarpon
Pacific Giant Octopus
Moray Eel
African Penguin
Southern Rockhopper Penguin
Little Blue Penguin
Harbor Seal
Weedy Seadragon
Leafy Seadragon
Humpback Whale
Minke Whale
Bowmouth Guitarfish
Giant Guitarfish
Southern Stingray
Cownose Ray
Blacktip Reef Shark
Bonnethead Shark
Longnose Gar
Red Pirahna
And I'm already definitely going to the Lisbon Oceanarium in Portugal where I will see an Ocean Sunfish, as well as Marineland in Ontario, Canada where I will see Orcas. And planning on going to Okinawa, Japan (Bottlenose Dolphins, Atlantic Yellowfin Tuna) and Monterey Bay (Great White Shark) sometime in the near future. Though Monterey Bay will have to get a new Great White (which they most likely will) as they released their most recent one.
Sound a tad bit obsessed? :P
