(No, you don't have to post 'I just lost the game', but you can if you want. I'm offering an exemption for this thread.)

What are your experiences with The Game? Your funniest way of getting someone to lose? Losing the game in public? Basically, things like that.

In real life, I play a modified version of The Game. Since hardly anyone I know in real life knows about The Game, in my version, rather than thinking about The Game, I get them to say, "What's The Game?" Something like this.

Me: THE GAME!
Random guy: What's The Game?
Me: You just lost The Game!

So, yeah, just post about this game which goes on forever.

That's what I do all the time :P

But yeah, I haven't had that many experiences with The Game yet. I sometimes include it in a post I write that's quite big, and on Gamefaqs, my sig says:

'I just lost The Game.'

That attracts people, and the topic instantly becomes a place filled with 'I just lost The Game!' It is funny :)

I remember when I did that in sixth grade. *Sigh* Good times, good times.
Some guy on Dragcave named his dragons "Oh noes I just lost the game", "That dude just lost the game", and similar. All in capitals, though.

On a side note: I just lost the game. :o

Allow me to explain.

The Game is an abstract mental game, the goal of which is for players to forget the existence of The Game itself. Play is continuous, consisting of alternating periods of winning (when you are not thinking about The Game) and losing (when you are). Knowledge of The Game is spread to new players primarily via word-of-mouth, and hence there are many variations (Rules 1, 2 & 3). The Game serves as a succinct example of a meme.

Now, the rules of this game.

Rule 1. You are playing The Game - This emphasises the fact that this is game is played continuously and that (players believe) once you start playing you can't stop.

Rule 2. Whenever you think about The Game, you lose - This emphasises how The Game is played and gives its objective: to forget that it exists. Some points about the specific wording of this rule (e.g. think about vs remember you are playing) are made here.

Rule 3. Loss of The Game must be announced - This emphasises the consequence of loss and is an important part of how The Game is spread.
