Well, in about 6 months now, the UK will be holding its General Election, in which every Member of Parliament is effectively 'sacked' and every seat must be voted for again. The party with a parliamentary majority then gets asked by the Queen to form a government, with the leader becoming Prime Minister.
This election must happen on or before June 3rd 2010, as defined by British law. This time around, it looks as if the three party leaders, and therefore competitors for position of Prime Minister are Gordon Brown of the Labour Party, David Cameron of the Conservative Party, and Nick Clegg of the Liberal Democrats. Labour are traditionally more left-wing and socialist, the Conservatives are traditionally more right-wing (although recently they've become more centrist), and the LibDems are centre-left.
But what I want to ask you fine people is - what do you think the outcome will be, and if you can vote, who will you be voting for? And if you don't have the vote, who would you vote for if you did?
Personally, I'd vote for David Cameron. The Conservative policy at the moment isn't anything particularly special, it's just common sense, compared to the completely crazy budgeting ideas that the Labour party has. The LibDems are alright, but I just think that they couldn't form a particularly efficient government. If they started being a bit bolder though, I'd probably vote for them.
