Alright. As many of you know, I am a strict athiest. Today, I seriously offended a member of my family today at my brothers birthday party. Why? I told her straight forward I am athiest. She got really sad, and I felt really guilty. So I went into my room when it was over, and I thought for a bit. Why don't I believe in god? I kept thinking, and thinking, then I got it. Its not that I don't believe in god, its just that I really just don't care.
Think of it this way. Politics. I don't care about them. I simply just live around them, and never complain. Why should I care? If the big man said it, sure I'll do it. Its not like It'll kill me. Thats basically how I view politics. Now, how does that relate? Simple, even if god was completely proven, and he showed his face, I wouldn't care. If he made laws, I would follow. There is no way he would give any reward, we why bother caring? Even if he made a bunch of new rules, I seriously just wouldn't care. I'd follow them, and go home ot watch tv at the end of the day. So what, big guy in the sky. Woopdee doo.
So yeah, thats my views on religion. I'm telling you guys because I had to let it out, but I can't to nay of my family members because most are strict Christians. Sorry if I offended anyone with this. Please don't say you disagree, because I know alot of you here are believers. I get it, nothing can change your mind, so I'm not gonna force you. I will, too quote, "Not Care."
While we're at this I think I should just sum up my views on religion in general. If you are religious you may want to steer clear of this as it will probably offend you.
And Pookie, that relative is WAAAAY too oversensitive.
Actually, there was something else to add. I didn't want to because it sounds corny, but her husband died of leg cancer. Your views are very well thought out, its nice to know some Christians can question there faith.
That actually makes quite a bit of sense as why she is strongly religious. Chances are she just puts her mind into it to make herself feel better, in a "he's in a better place" way. I think the best way around religion is to not get involved if you can help it. As I say, it seems like a waste of a lifetime imo.
Also, being autistic, I'd rather just rot to nothing when I die than have to suffer endless torture around people in hell heaven.
Yeah...... oh, there was this thing in the Newspaper. A woman's daughter was dieing, so instead of getting medical help, she prayed. the girl died. So that woman got sent to prison for failure to comply.
I see where you guys are coming from ,and this is how I think about it. When people pray, they expect miracles from God, and for him to come down and help them personally. That however, no longer happens, so when they pray, God will help them, but by giving them oppurtunitys.
That lady's oppurtunity from God was to get medical help, but she didn't realize it in time.
There was a joke or a story, I don't quite remember which one but here I go anyways. It's that there was a hurricane, and the water level was up to the roof of the house. Everyone was evactuate but this one man. A boat came to rescue him, but he denied it, saying that God will save him. Then a helicopter came to rescue him, he also denied that, saying God would save him. Finally the water level rose higher than the roof and the man drowned. He believed God would save him, and God tried to, but in the form of the boat and the helicopter.
Well that's what I think of it anyways. I am Christian-Catholic, but I'm not a strict one. There's something a lot of people don't realize, that you can believe in God without worshiping him or even going to Sunday Mass.
And about there being no Heaven, that could be so, and in time we'll all find out, but for now, it's nice to believe that we've all deserved a paradise after life.
Just my point of view.
I know that should probably be in a spoiler, but I sorta missed the whole 'spoiler' ordeal ^^;;
I don't believe god gives opportunities. I believe, if there is a god, that god simple just doesn't do squat, and focus' on stuff that actually matters, like the universe or keeping earth from getting bombarded by meteors.

^Kind of how I look at it.

You just renamed choices into a three letter word...

Now you are saying that your god doesnt control one person's will, but all the wills around him...

I think too many people say that their god did THIS and THAT and give absolutely not credit to themselves nor any other life form. Its sickening when people say crap like "God gave you the strength" or "Thank god for this food on the table" when I work my butt off to accomplish things and feed myself. To say that a god provides opportunities may sound like a great concept, but not when these opportunities are presented by other people. People have to stop renaming simple words into the three lettered curse.
Personally, I would have to agree with Narodin. But in a slightly different wording. God opens the doors, but it is our choice whether or not to walk in. So with that would come a personal story about that, but I won't type it now.(Simply too long and hard to explain.)
So yeah, my view about that.
I love it when people agree with me. :D
I personally hate it when people also say that God is the most important thing in life. What if there is no god? Has your life gone to waste?
"Hello Flanders, I was working up a Tax return and I accidentally proved that there's no god."
"Well I'll just see tha- well..... maybe he made a mista- no, no, its there."
"Daddy, does this mean I can swear?"
"NO! I'll just burn this little doozey!"
