Right, listen up.

It's hit me like kissing an express train; Acanthite is diseased, rotten to the core. We've become a negative, highly judgemental group of people and this trend runs from the top to the bottom. We've become infected by a tendency to criticise each other on a personal level and it's not acceptable. Not least because it is OF DETRIMENT TO OUR PROJECT.

I do not want to see members leave here, ever. Even less do I want them to leave because they are unhappy with the attitude that has developed into a cruel monster. I read the comings and goings forum and see a lot of goings, in many cases from stalwart members who've been here from the beginning. I see Nyumi departing too, and I read his hiatus thread and I am disgusted by what I see from members, staff, moderators and support alike.

The reputation system saga is not one we wanted to have. It's certainly shown itself to have incubated the infection that has hit this forum and project, garnering invalid, unfair criticisms in a lot of cases, alienating members rather than encouraging, sometimes becoming a war between groups of friends. It goes back a little further than just this since we've had Nyumi's anti-noob, excessive grammar-Nazi rantings for some time and I have been extremely pissed off by some of the egoistic diatribe posted and certain behind the scenes occurrences, no doubt about it. But the rest of us seem no better when I read some of the comments posted.

But it's not too late to save this place. I believe in second chances. I would have Nyumi back here if he'll drop the stupid crusade against all things noob. I'd have anyone back here. And I'd hope that we'd all be encouraging to one another. We leave it to our moderating team to decide what posts are not acceptable and that is defined by our rules. You're out of here when you've shown an inability to stick to these simple rules.

But there is a code of conduct not defined in our rules that we ought to follow and that is RESPECT to each other, with CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM where applicable. Nobody's going to get on with everyone all the time but we don't want to infect this place with negativity any further.

We've lost countless staff of late and progress on the project has been halted severely. We must get this up and running again because the idea is too good to let it die. It is, after all, what brought us all here in the first place. We need to get on with the Pokémon designs, creating the sprites we need and making this game.

This is a fairly inconclusive rant by itself. I'm just appalled at the bad attitudes that have emerged here and it's come to a point where people are leaving because of it. I suppose the only solution can come from you guys, so let's have it.
Wow I'm sorry if I'm not meant to post here but your right. Some of my best friends have left just because of some people and what they have said. And your right about the production of Pokemon Acanthite, it has been slow but for those of us who believe it will come true and have hope I congratulate them. Guys, it isn't too late to save the forums but we must all work together. This isn't a popularity contest people! Also not to be off topic or anything but I would like to do my part to help save the production of the game and help save the forums. I would like to help you guys out as much as I can in any way possible. If you guys need sprites, I will give you sprites, and if you guys need encouragement, then by the gods you will have it. Thanks
Excellent post Fangking, I agree this place is out of control. I think we need some kind of councelling tbh, I know I've been causing a load of bull recently too so I apoligise to anyone I've upset.
Yeah, I remember the old acanthite forums. people got shit done, there wasn't much flaming... in general, it was way better then than it is now.

I'd be willing to help you guys sprite this stuff.
huh, i feel sorry for making those crazzy rants yesterday, its true, i haven't been paying attention to the most important thing in these forums, the acanthite project. man...i feel like an idiot right now for doing that. you know what, im now going to focus on whats really important here..the awesome fan game. and im willing to help in any way. i'm very sorry to whoever got offended by those posts i did the other day. we or should i say I should be more positive in the forums.
Well, I have to agree. Members of this forum are increasingly obsessed with becoming respected, and all this is becoming is a means of furthering the ego. Personally, I think there are things that can be done, and I will suggest them here.

Firstly, I suggest a representative of the people being given access to the progress of the project. Perhaps, having elections every three or four months for a member of the community to become 'Honourary Staff', to effectively make sure that the project is still chuntering on at a good pace. I think that if they were allowed to feed back a certain amount of information as well, and they were seen to be the link between the senior staff and the members (sort of like the Inner Party between the Proles and Big Brother in Nineteen Eighty-Four), then it would make people a lot more motivated to do things.

Secondly, I suggest a fortnightly roundup of events on the forum, in the form of say, a magazine, with clear sections on everything else. This would sort of replace the rep system in a way, giving topicspace to people who deserve it with their art or writing or whatever, and would also serve as an effective form of getting news across. If there was a senior staff section, it would also encourage admins to make regular updates. Certainly, on my school's website, I visit it frequently, because my headmaster has a regular blog that is interesting to read about. If we had one of those, then that might make people become more active. Maybe even a Twitter feed on the main site? Because that gets neglected a lot.

And on the note of the main site, I think that there could be a lot more done with it. I personally can help with that, because of my knowledge with coding and web management, and I have a good idea of what makes people enjoy a website (after having run my own fairly successful one for two years, until the files got deleted). This would take some of the pressure of of Cipher, and although it appears to be me furthering my own cause, I honestly think that if the main site was better, you'd get more interest for the project, and more well informed members joining the community.

This was just my opinion though. Heed what you will, but I think that some massive reform is needed to turn this community into the best it can possibly be.
The forum is going through rough times. That goes without saying. If there's anything I can do to help, whether it's for the forums or the project, and if I CAN do it, I will.
Uggh, i'm really not in peace right now. one part of myself is pulling towards the "RETURN NOW!" lane and the other is pulling me towards the " Get your arse outa here now" lane. i'm going to think about it a bit more for now. hopefully if i do return (which im saying i'm not) this place will be normal again because this place seems weird now.
Stay. We're rebuilding. Be a part of it. I don't get why people feel the need to leave, it makes nothing better.

people feel the need to leave because this place seems different..too different. so different that some people (including me) are overwelmed with this. ive decided to return but im still not going to log in alot due to my useless, fractured arm. but, we got to focus in the project now. not our social problems. .....wow, i sound so hypocritical now. sad.;)
