Well hello there, I'm Dave, 27, been playing pokemon since Gen 1. Really like what your trying to do here. Just thought id drop by and say hello :)
Welcome to the forums. Now don't be a noob, or I'll have to eat you.
... what he said..
Anyway, I'm Batteryman! I'm clearly teh Forums' Certifried Nutjob! Have a great time, and be a Newb fo the time until you're a memeber. But never. Ever. EVER! Be a NOOB!. We hates them.
Great, my first experiece of the site and i get two welcome messages telling me to and i quote "not be a noob", whatever that may be. Are you always this welcoming to new members?
...I agree, that's kind of mean, especially when they've got the wrong definition of "noob" (being someone who is immature, or experienced yet acts like they are a newb and just joined).
However, "don't be a noob" could be their version of "don't be a stranger" which basically just translates to "go out there and post and be friendly."
Anyway, hello! I'm Swine Flu and I also just joined.

Don't take it like that. It's just an advanced warning - don't be an idiot or bad things can happen.
So, have fun, make friends, follow the rules and be magnificent. :)
an advanced warning? something bad will happen? ... on that note ill take my leave, obviously this site and the associated forums have nothing for me. I was under the impression this was a somewhat mature communtiy working hard to make what appears to be a fantastic project for something i have enjoyed the best part of a decade. I shall not rant on for fear of further "advanced warnings" but know this, im rather let down by the community already after just 3 posts.

You misunderstand me. We just expect our members to act in a mature fashion, and we're used to some of them not meeting that. Obviously you are a mature person, just, stick to the rules and you'll be an accepted and valued member.
Trust me, everything will be allright. The "not to be a noob" part has sort of standerdized itself here. That is because some members really do tend to do things that arn´t that bright and ainst the rules. Like I already said though, you seem like a reasonable guy, so everything will be fine.
Yeah, don't take it personally. ;) It's actually mostly a bit of harmless fun, especially the "eating" thing, which is more or less a running joke.
