Before we start off: I did get this idea from Akihide's WiFi League thread. If you want to do something like this on WiFi, you can find it here. I just do this because Shoddy is more accessible to most people (such as myself).

Introduction

Welcome! Based on Akihide's DPPtHGSS WiFi League 2010, I bring you the Acanthite Tournament 2010! I already had this idea in my head for a while, but finally decided to create this thread after Akihide did it for WiFi.

So, what's this all about? This is basically a tournament to determine who is the best competitive battler on the Pokémon Acanthite forums. Who will come out on top?

Rules

Battles consist of full party fights; that means it will be 6v6. The tournament will feature OverUsed (OU) fights between players. If there's enough interest in this tournament, I'll consider creating a UU or Uber Tournament.

Other than that, there are certain rules that a team has to abide to, otherwise known as clauses:

Uber Clause: The following Pokémon are banned from the Tournament:
- Arceus
- Darkrai
- Deoxys (all forms)
- Dialga
- Giratina
- Giratina-O
- Groudon
- Ho-oh
- Kyogre
- Latias
- Latios
- Lugia
- Manaphy
- Mew
- Mewtwo
- Palkia
- Rayquaza
- Shaymin S
- Wobbuffet
- Wynaut

Still pending if Latias is Uber or OU. Soul Dew is banned anyways; leave your opinion here and vote in the poll.

Evasion Clause: The player may not use attacks that raise evasion (such as Double Team). However, moves that have a random effect of increasing evasion (Acupressure) or lowering the foe's accuracy stat (Mud-Slap) are allowed. Sand-Attack and Sand Veil are allowed.

Sleep Clause: Only 1 Pokémon may be put to sleep on the same team. Once this Pokémon wakes up again, another may be put to sleep. This does not include the move 'Rest', or the effects of 'Effect Spore.'

Species Clause: Players are not allowed to use more than 1 Pokémon of the same species. Different Pokédex number = different species.

OHKO Clause: Moves that kill in one hit (Fissure, Sheer Cold, Guillotine) will fail.

Freeze Clause: Like the 'Sleep Clause', 1 Pokémon may be frozen on the same team. Subsequent attempts to freeze the opponent will fail, until the frozen Pokémon defrosts.

Soul Dew Clause: The item Soul Dew is banned on all Pokémon.

Timer Clause: The timer has to be turned on for the match. This is to prevent people not doing anything.

More rules could be added/removed to suit the majority of the people.

Pokémon Teams

Battles are played in a 6v6 format. As such, players may only create teams containing 6 Pokémon. There's no changing of your Pokémon during the tournament, so choose wisely.

Of course, players have to abide to the Clauses of theis Tournament. Luckily, all but one (Uber Clause) can be activated on Shoddy Battle. Uber Clause can be remedied by choosing a OU match.

Tier List

Well, this'll be a great tier list. I'll just list the Uber Pokémon from the Uber Clause and that's that.

Alright, now that you have read the rules, it's up to you to sign-up (finally damn this guy rants)!

Procedure

1. First of all, post in here if you want to join. Follow this template:

2. I will then add you to the list of participants. From here, start creating your team.
3. Once yor team has been created, send the data of your team to me (easily done by going to 'Edit Team', then choose Tools -> Export To Text). I won't be joining the Tournament (I suck at OU) and your team is safe with me. Send the data in a PM. Name the PM like this:
   
   Acanthite Tournament (*insert username here*)
   
   This will make it a lot easier for me to find the proper participant.
4. That's it! Good job if you made it this far through the difficult steps of singing up!

I currently have no idea what style I'm going to use. What do you guys think is better:
- A format based on points earned by wins/losses?
- A tournament style where the loser leaves the tournament immediately (knock-out)?
- A format like the FIFA World Cup, with everyone divided in seperate groups and the two best battlers continue to a knock-out stage?

I'll leave it at these three options, but if anyone has another idea, tell me.

I'm gonna join this, but when I am offline during that time, there's a rotated brownout in the place where I am now. I think the format should be like the FIFA World Cup.

Hmm. Knockout format would work the best, and it means you don't have to rely on other people as well.

It's not strictly OU, so you are allowed to use UU, NU or even NFE Pokémon :P

I've added everyone so far, but we need more people to start this! Also vote in the Latias poll.
