I had a very interesting dream last night. In the dream, I was playing a new Pokemon game. It was set up like the Stadium games, but all the Pokemon were realistically rendered in a style very similar to the illustrations of the Pokemon LEGEND cards (but even more awesome). Certain attacks (like signature moves of Legendary Pokemon - Raikou, Entei, & Suicune had signature attacks in the dream) had awesome cut-scenes rather than a quick animation. Physical Attacks were actually shown making contact with the Defending Pokemon (you could literally see Rattata latching its fangs into Ponyta). It was the most epic Pokemon game I've ever seen, even though it was just a dream. I really wish there was some way I could show you guys. >.<
Would it not be awesome if they actually made a game like this? Of course, with the realistic images and detailed attacks, the rating would have to be higher than the usual "E" for everyone (I would think).
I think BW has the 'Rattata latching on' thing. But, well, what do I know?
I thought of this, too.
I don't think it's possible to animate each possible combination of attacker, attack and attacked one, but it'd be so coooool! *-*
This is basically what PBR was supposed to be, but I'm pretty sure some deadlines and age rating stuff kinda limited it.
This is definitely possible though.
Maybe if the Nintendo guys started working on it when they started working on Avatar 11 years ago, they would've had it finished by 2006 >_>
Not a bad idea, but Pokemon was never really intentioned to involve actual violence, hence team rocket never really getting proper injuries and being blasted supposedly into space, then somehow getting down magically. And how the worst injury you see are bruises, which come from attacks that don't even GIVE bruises! It's a child zone, and that's mostly why kids get sucked in so easily, more than larger teenagers or adults.
My hypothesis, it would've never worked out. It's a nice idea, but I highly doubt it would've gone past Satoshi Tajiri's intentions of Pokemon.
Here's something that InfinityFangX from PokeBeach threw together for me:

I would love to see a game like that except without the LEGEND-style, which I find awful. The 3D rendering of PBR was quite good to me, or I would like to see an style similar to the Battrio arcades.
And Magma is right, PBR was going to be something like that (Pikachu actually Volt-Tackling Deoxys, and the attacks like Hyper Beam leaving a trail of destruction on the field was show in an early trailer) Too bad it didn't end like that.
