Since I've basically settled on what Pokemon I want to use for my team, you guys can start discussing ideas for other anime-based teams. I'll go ahead and edit the title and first post.

I was thinking of a Naruto style team... but they'd all be nuzleaf and shiftry...

I dunno. Naruto could be Ninetales. Shiftry would be great for Temari. If you gave Cherrim some healing moves, I suppose that could work for Sakura (as Sakura's name means cherry blossoms). Gaara could be Hippowdon...

I think sakura would make a good miltank. Very powerful with healing moves. Speaking of which, I saw this nifty picture that does some of it for us.

Some of those match up pretty well.

Ninetales (Naruto), Miltank (Sakura), Arbok (Sasuke), Mightyena (Kakashi), Hippowdon (Gaara), Shiftry (Temari), Arcanine (Kiba), Hitmonlee (Rock Lee), Seviper (Orochimaru), Snorlax (Choji), Banette (Kankuro or Sasori)...

I guess Jiraiya could be a Politoad or a Poliwrath?
I was thinking that Kakashi could be a Ditto or a Smeargle (Or a Sudowoodo), seeing as he is the copy ninja and that Pokémon have copy-like attacks.
Should Madara be Palkia or Giratina because of its space-time jutsu, or a Shedinja because he is 'a former shell of what he used to be"? I think the latter fits it more, with its Wonder Guard :P
Neji could be a Noctowl, with that near 360-grades vision I guess... And I think Mightyena fits Kiba better, as Arcanine seems quite noble (Legendary Pokémon xD) for the nasty tactics Kiba uses.
The Raikage is obviously Raichu or an Electivire.

Yonbi (Monkey): Ambipom (I don't like Ambipom, so I'll be using Primape)
Gobi (Dolphin-Horse): Kingdra (Gobi is a dolphin horse thing...?)
Rokubi (Slug): Gastrodon (I'm using Magcargo, because I'm using FireRed)
Nanabi (Horned Beetle): Heracross
Hachibi (Giant Ox): Tauros (or octillery... lol)
Kyubi (Demon Fox): Ninetails

Tsunade would also have to be a Miltank for the same reasons.
