Hey all, I'm sure you've all heard about the fact that WPM leaked a commercial he wasn't meant to (if not you have some reading to do).

Personally, although I do believe taking a camera into a cinema is a bit stupid on the legal side, what he took photos of were advertisements. You know, things designed to encourage sales. Surely more people seeing them will only be good for the business.

I honestly think the 2ch /b/tards who reported him are just being arseholes to be honest, and the other sites who have been slagging him off for it are being hypocritical as they all have film and TV screens and the like, and are only saying that because they feel that they're next.

What does everyone think of the situation? I think these rumours of him getting 10 years in jail or whatever are over the top, I think at most he'll get fined or a formal warning.

Despite this I can't help but think if it was Serebii I'd be having a bloody good laugh right now.
I thought as much when I found out that he took photos. I mean, really? That's stupid of him, and he deserves it for banning specific countries from PokéBeach forums... (Me and my friends from India can't access the place, ShinyBill from Portugal can't access it, another friend of mine from Sri Lanka can't) OK, 2ch may be mean, but if WPM didn't take the photo, this whole ruckus would never ave happened. I don't support anyone.

Bulbapedia condemns his actions... Well, those fine charges are pretty over top, if you ask me, but if it's true, guess who won't be surprised.
I get what you're saying - it was a pretty stupid move - but really the only people who should have issue here are the Pokémon company and Nintendo. I'm sure they wouldn't have that much of a problem with their game being advertised a bit, and pressing charges against a guy who's been promoting their game for probably about 7 years would be a bit stupid.
Not really, though. By banning countries, he's technically discouraging the people of those countries. =\

Also, from now, any further argument against my say to be subjected via PM.
I also believe the punishment is little over the top, but he broke the law and this s the price he must pay for his actions. Although it may seem stupid to be imprisoned for ten years for taking pictures of an ad, it was still a crime. If he didn't break the law, he wouldn't have to go through this.
Advertising what should be advertised is against the law?
I didn't know that.
Well, that WAS supposed to be for the eyes whose owners have paid the entry fee ONLY, anyway.
He did break the law, but ten years for taking snapshots of an ad isn't going to happen. More likely than not it's going to be a fine. I could see ten years being a reasonable punishment for taking a video camera into a theater and filming the movie, but that's not what he did, now is it?

Nintendo's not gouing to press charges, there's too much risk of him getting off- provided he's got a good lawyer- and downtalking Nintendo's games and such. A lot of people look to WPM for updates.
Well, he's not going to get ten cooling his feet, but as Kudos said, that fine's likely. However, the Pokémon Company won't sue, but that fine Bulbapedia gives out is also improbable. Two or three pictures <-/-> Y 1 million or whatever he NOW DELETED article says. =\
Well, this could be one of two things.

1. A hype stunt. People are going to get sucked into the drama and have their minds on the games more...

2. If not, well, people or bloody ridiculous. I do not always care what LAWS say or what is considered a CRIME, but what he did was not WRONG. No one considers that anymore. Sure it wasnt right, but he advertised a game for people, even though they didn't ask. It's a fricking commercial. Usually commercials are s'posed to be those things you get as many people to see as possible to increase sales or productivity and such. If they are going to persecute a guy for doing that for them, especially if it was an innocent mistake, then they can all just die. I am not for the the condemning of a simple man for a small mistake; a mistake in which will most likely benefit the company to begin with.

People disgust me.
