That is why we have a little thing called standards, which is why this thread is necessary :)

However, I think it's a bit uncalled for; it's not a friggin' book club, it's an internet forum about a fan game. Not that I mind. I like reading well-structured sentences, but I don't think it's a must.

Dude, this is priceless.

I'm afraid you may be slightly out of the loop, but this thread was created to mock the current grammar thread and explain why grammar Nazism is totally frivolous - tiepin liek dis werks az long az ppl unduh stand it.

However, I can understand you, can I not? As long as chatspeak is intelligible, which is, contrary to public perception, most of the time, there is no reason to restrict its use.

The entire point of this point was to demonstrate how using proper grammar is not worth the trouble. Obviously, I don't expect all of you to remember when to use 'fewer' and 'whom'. But in exchange, don't expect those upon whom you look down to spell everything correctly nor to spell out 'you' or 'for' when 'u' and '4' do the job more efficiently.

Although using perfect English may make judgmental people feel superior to those who do not, the truth is that they are smarter than we, for they are simply conveying the same message in less time, and with less effort, at no expense to them save for maybe the respect of Grammar Nazis who impulsively feel as if typing in proper English is somehow connected to intelligence level. I am led to believe that it works in the exact opposite way than that which they suspect; when one stops to think about it, those who type more efficiently are more intelligent than those who waste time spelling out words when the chatspeak alternative is equally understandable.
I can get what Box is saying, but chatspeak is really annoying and I don't think it's a good idea to type something that will take the user on the other end a little while to 'translate' into a readable form.

This.

Grammar Nazis forever! XD
Box of Fail, u rule. 'nuff said. I think he made his point (and mine, at that too) pretty clear.
Well, obviously chatspeak isn't a problem on this forum. I think that however unfair linguistic prejudices are, they exist, and as such, are inescapable. So it's pretty much what you want people to think of you, which is perfectly reasonable. I mean, why don't we all wear clothes that are completely practical? Because we want people to respect us.
