Charquil stood in amazement. It was a city, but not just a city, but a city filled with Pokemon!
“I must be dreaming…” Charquil rubbed his eyes and for the first time, he noticed himself. “AGH! I-I-I’m a-a-a-”
“A Charmander.”
Charquil turned to see where the voice came from. Standing there was a Dragonite with a scar over his left eye and he was silver. He carried a golden staff on his back. “What happened to me? Where am I? And who are you?”
“You have been placed into the world of The Game. A virtual reality game where the users are transformed into the Pokemon they choose. I am Draigon.”
“Woah… that’s awesome! So, how does one play?”
“Simple, you form a team and battle to the top.”
“Ok, then it’s decided.”
Draigon had a puzzled look. “What’s decided?”
“I’m going to form a team and be the best, of course.”
Draigon chuckled, “Nice little declaration, but can you keep to it?”
“Honestly, I don’t know if I’m ready for the challenge, but I’ll give it my best.”
“Interesting. I’ve come across hundreds of players already who made the same statement, what makes you so different?”
“Because I will be the best. Not only will I be the best, but I’ll do it without evolving, too!”
“Hmmm… you’ve got spirit I’ll give you that.” Draigon went quiet and then continued, “I like you kid, want to join my team? You’ll receive the best training and you’ll be apart of the only team that will make it to the top.”
Charquil thought on this a while. This guy seems tough. I bet his whole team is full of people like him… but… “No thank you. I’ve already decided to make my own team and we will beat everyone, including you.”
Draigon was surprised, no one had ever turned him down before, let alone a noob and above all else, this kid was basically declaring war on him. The two were quiet for some time.
Draigon removed the staff from his back and handed it to Charquil. “I want you to see this, anything about it catch your eye?”
Charquil examined it from end to end. It was about as long as Charquil and it had a Dragon design on both ends with a ring on each side as well. Something about one of the rings seemed strange, slightly… different. He felt this ring. Unconsciously, he started to twist it until the end slid out, revealing a blade.
“The Dragon blade. A one of a kind weapon that was given to me for beta testing The Game. What is your name, kid?”
“My name’s Charquil, why?”
“Charquil, you are now the owner of that blade. Take good care of it.”
“What? Why are you giving it to me? Didn’t you just say it’s really special?”
Draigon smiled, “I’ve never used it and it’s too small for me anyway.”
Charquil examined the blade again and put it back in the sheath. “But Draigon, I…”
Draigon was gone. Charquil looked around, but caught no sight of him. He saw a sign next to some screens that read “Tutorial”. He approached this screen and watched the given tutorial.
"Hey Charmander dude," A Chimchar approached Charquil. "Do you want to join my team? It is going to be a fire-type team."
"A fire-type team," Charquil replied. "That sound's interesting. I'm in then. But my name isn't Charmander Dude. That name was already taken. My name is Charquil." He offered his hand
The Chimchar shook Charquil’s hand, "Now we just need more members."
I’ll stay with him for now, Charquil thought to himself, but I’ll form my own team and take on the best to be the best!
After creating their team, Charquil declared he’d be logging off, which he did.
Adam was sitting at his computer still surprised at what had happened. He looked over to Zach’s laptop, but he wasn’t there. “He must still be in the game. I’d be kinda freaked out if it wasn’t so cool.” Adam turned off his computer and left to his room across the hall. He dressed for bed, got in bed and was fast asleep in moments.
