A group of Pokemon appeared in the middle of the city. No seemed to notice, seeing as teleporting was common transportation. The group consisted of those who had escaped the jail. Charquil’s mouth was hanging open from what he had heard his boss, or rather ex-boss, say before they left.
“I’m… the new… leader? I’m the leader of Dragonfire!” Chaquil shouted to no one.
“Congratulations” Narred and Darren said in unison.
“What are you going to do now?” 80-D asked.
“Well, Blaze wouldn’t have put me in charge if he wanted my help, so I guess I’ll find my team and continue our legacy.” He started to walk off.
“Um… Adam?” Charquil turned to see Maya.
“Please call me Charquil while we’re out in public. What is it?”
“Um, I want to come with you and join you’re team. Is that ok?”
Charquil stared at her for a while. “We’re a team of fire pokemon only. I will keep the rules of our team; the type restriction will not change.”
“Well, what if I promise I’ll become a Flareon?”
He thought on this for a bit. “All right, you can come.”
The two walked on, waving to the others.
Charquil turned to Maya. “I thought you would want to go with Blaze. You two obviously like each other.”
She was starting to turn red. “He told me not to come. He said he didn’t want me getting hurt.”
“I guess that would make sense.”
Up ahead they could see the alley. Doom came out and saw them. “Well, it’s about time you showed up! Where’s Blaze?”
“I’ll tell you as soon as you get the team together. I don’t want to have to repeat myself.”
Doom walked back inside. Charquil and Maya followed suit. “This is going to be tough to explain.”

10 minutes later, once the team had gathered and Magma and Doom stopped fighting and Burst had his mouth duct taped to keep him from interrupting.
Charquil was standing on a crate in front of the team and Maya was sitting on a box next to him.
“All right,” Charquil said, “I’m sure you’re all wondering where Blaze is. Well, I’m not gonna tell you.”
“What!?” Magma called out. “Why not?”
“Because I don’t want any of you going after him. He’s with Soul, that’s all I’ll say. Now, before he left, he made me the leader.”
“Well, that was expected, you were already the second in command” Pegasus comented.
“Thanks. Now, as my first order of business, we have a new member.” Charquil points to Maya. “This is Maya, say hello.”
“Hello Maya.” Magma and Doom said at the same time. Magma then punched Doom and they started another brawl.
“Hi,” Pegasus walked up, “I’m Pegasus, the Cyndaquil is Burst.”
“Alright, now. I have another announcement.” Doom and Magma stopped. “Our base is a dump. I have decided that our next big purchase will be a real place to stay. So let’s go make some money.”

When the Mewtwo vanished from the screens, everyone in the city turned to Charquil, who was carrying a bag of stuff. Charquil was just staring right back. There was a long pause and Charquil never dropped his gaze. The onlookers began to whisper among themselves, but continued watching Charquil, apparently seeing what he would do.
Pegasus came out of an alley and stopped next to Charquil. “Didn’t you see the broadcast?” She whispered, “We need to go.”
“I can’t.” He replied, “As soon as I show a sign of weakness, they will be all over me. The best I can do for now is hope to stare them down; show no fear. Go and get the team, I have an idea.”
For five minutes, Charquil and the crowd just stared at each other. A few of them moved toward him every now and then, but noticed no one followed and they melted back into the crowd.
Pegasus came back with the rest of the team.
“Team, form a line alongside me.”
They did so. They were quiet. Even Burst didn’t say anything.
Charquil took a step forward and yelled, “We are team Dragonfire! If anyone wants to turn us in because of some petty and probably unreal reward, then challenge us in the ring. If any of you can beat us, I will personally see to it that not only will we come quietly, but I will give you this.” Charquil pulled the staff off his back and extended it in front of him. “This here, as most of you can tell by just looking, is one of THE rarest items in this game. This is none other than the Dragon Blade, one of the 5 secret items given out to the first five to play the game.” Charquil twisted the end of the staff and pulled a sword out of it. He showed it off for a bit and put it back. “We are returning to our base, now. We will be accepting the challenges tomorrow.” Charquil turned on the now completely frozen crowd and walked away.
Magma caught up with Charquil and asked, “Are you sure about this? You just challenged every player in the game. And that sword is your most prized possession.”
“I don’t know, but if I didn’t give that crowd a spectacle like that, we would’ve been goners in no time flat. They way I see it, we didn’t really have a choice.”
“There’s always a choice” The sound came from an alley to the right.
“Who are you?” Doom called out, “Show yourself or be destroyed!”
A Dragonite emerged from the alley. He had a large scar over his left eye and the gold parts of a normal Dragonite were silver. “Nice to see you again, Charquil.”
The whole of team Dragonfire turned toward Charquil in surprise.
Burst, of course, was the first to break the silence, “You know this weirdo!?”
Charquil was just as surprised as the rest of them. “Yeah… I do.” He finally said. “He’s Draigon.”
All but Maya gasped at that news. She looked at the others in confusion and asked, “Who’s Draigon?”
“Who’s Draigon!?” Burst shouted, “He’s only one of THE COOLEST PLAYERS EVER! They call him Draigon of the seven!”
“What’s the seven?” Maya asked a little embarrassed.
“What’s the se-” Magma slapped some duct tape on Burst’s mouth.
“That oughta hold him for now.” He said.
“The seven, Maya,” Charquil replied, “Are considered the best in the Game, second only to the 7 game masters themselves. Draigon here is who I got this sword from.”

Holy cow! This is a pointless spoiler!

Draigon approached Charquil. “Might I see my old blade?”
Charquil nodded and handed him the staff.
“You’ve taken very good care of it.”
“Thank you. I’ve done my best, but why are you here?”
“I saw the broadcast and thought I’d come see you. I saw how you handled that situation back there, very well done, but are you capable of keeping to it?” He handed Charquil the staff back.
“I don’t know. I don’t think we’re ready for such a large challenge, but we’ll do our best.”
“Exactly what I thought I’d here from you. However, I don’t believe your best will be good enough. My offer still stands as it always will.”
The others shifted, a little unsure of what was going on. Burst was fidgeting with the edge of the tape, unsure if the pain of ripping it off would be worth the ability to speak.
Charquil finally replied. “No. I have my own team and I told you we will be the best. I’m honored with the offer, but I’ll have to respectfully decline.”
A yelp of pain was heard and everyone tuned to see Burst holding the strip of tape in his hand. “What is going on? Neither of you are making sense!”
Charquil chuckled. “I’ll tell you later. Now,” He turned back to Draigon. “Why are you REALLY here?”
“I’ll get straight to the point. The rest of the Seven have you and your friends targeted. They’ve been swayed by the Ring Master. You need to be on your guard.”
“Hmmm, that’s not good. Is that including my brother? I can’t imagine him joining with Ring guy.”
Draigon was silent for a moment then answered. “Sinchey is no longer one of the Seven. He didn’t like the title and gave it to another, Drake I believe his name was.”
“That’s strange, I didn’t think the great Shadow would give up his title like that, he’s too, well, you know him, he just wouldn’t.”
“It confuses me as well. He never said why. He’s gone now and no one knows where he is. I was wondering if maybe you could contact him, considering your relationship.”
“I’m afraid he moved out. I don’t know where he is or how to get a hold of him and my parents just say he’s taken a very busy job.”
“Do you have any idea where he may be?”
“I’ve heard my parents talk about some secret job or something, that’s all I know. I’ll see if I can’t track him down,”
“That would be most helpful. You can contact me at anytime if you need anything for your search. For now, I must go. Farewell my friend.”
“Yes, it was good to speak with you again. Bye.”
Draigon faded back into the alley and disappeared. The team stood quiet. Doom turned toward Charquil. “You have a lot to explain.”
“I know, but wait til we get back to headquarters.” I’m also going to need some help, maybe Jason. I’ll call him some time later.
They all walked on quietly; except for Burst who was saying something about Fritos and bird food. It was common for Burst to talk about stuff and everyone ignore him.

“All right, Boss, start talking.” Doom and Magma said in unison. The rest just sat and waited.
Charquil sighed, “All right. I guess you all deserve to know. Well, I’ll start from the beginning…”
