Hey all, this is a little update to let you know the plans the staff have for the forums in the coming months.
The first is one I'm sure you're all keen on finding out about - this is, of course, the Pokémon Acanthite game. I'm not going to give any detail past what has already been discussed in other threads, but the Acanthite game staff are starting from fresh with the game - which naturally means more planning and decision making has to be done before the guys can even think of putting things together to show off, so you'll have to be patient :D You can get involved, however, both with the protagonist design contest which is still open up until the 15th, as well as the new weekly "Q&A with Afti" which can be seen here :)
Do not fear though! There is still plenty of excitement for the coming weeks, in the form of the Pokémon Acanthite TCG! Whilst the first promotional set is still in the works, we are releasing cards from the Acanthite TCG Development Series (codenamed DEV##) in a kind of weekly dev blog which you may be familiar with already, in the "Pokémon Acanthite TCG Discussion" forum. These updates allow you to see some of the creative decisions that have been made for the TCG by myself and Fangking (as well as pretty much the entire staff group who've all given input :)) as well as letting you see some great fake cards from Fang and a few by me :D
So when does the promotional set land, I hear you ask? This is something which is still to be confirmed, however we hope to launch it alongside the long rumoured system which will allow you to collect these cards digitally as well as trade them with other people here. This launch will not only bring big change to the TCG project, but also to the whole forum.
At the time when the first promotional set is released to you all, the forums will undergo big changes. We, the staff, have thought this through and we think you will appreciate them.
The plan is that all existing threads, posts and polls on the forum at the time will be removed and placed in an archive. Replacing them will be brand new forums for us all, which will allow us to start fresh, as though we were a brand new forum.
I know it may seem like a strange decision, but allow me to explain. Although you do won't be able see it so far, a lot has changed to the projects. This allows us to break the limitations of the old projects, however it does make about 95% of the current discussion obsolete. Having a fresh start would allow us to refocus everything to the new and improved projects (namely, the TCG and the new game). The other main reason behind this idea is that it's no secret that the community just isn't as active as it used to be (and yes, I am well aware we've been saying this for the last three years but the point still stands :P). With the brand new TCG we hope to be able to bring in lots of new members, who, along with you faithful and adoring fans reading this now, can shape a new community where everyone feels at home, rather than having to try and adapt to the current area where, let's be honest, no-one really knows who's coming or going. It'll be just like starting over.
