As of yesterday (December 21, 2011), I had one of my Pokemon groomed on OrangeIslands. Now, if you know how grooming there works, you'll know that there's a 1/50 chance of having your Pokemon become shiny!
That's exactly what happened.
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL
Soon after, I got a text from my girlfriend asking me if I wanted to take the shiny Voltorb she had caught on her Emerald cartridge.

I have never gotten a shiny at any point in my life ever. You so lucky. >:(
I have seen one shiny once ever. That is when I didn't understand what a shiny was. My thoughts were "WHY GAME GLITCHY AND WEIRD COLOR AND ZUBATZ ARE ANNOYING!" And that's when my Pikachu laid waste to it. T-T
Anyhow, lucky you. :D
The last shiny I saw was a Nidorina, but it ran away after I used a Safari Ball. D:

This is why I'm scared to go to the Safari Zone anymore.
I nearly laughed when you told me that. Also, the stats don't seem too bad for the fact of being a Voltorb...in my own mind that is. >_>;
I once got a shiny Voltorb and a shiny Trapinch. My favorite shinies (and my first ones too) <3 (and add the shinies I have on my other games and some sites and you get.....)

Seeing this reminds me: Is Relaxed a bad nature for a Voltorb/Electrode?
My first shiny was the Red Gyarados, then I found a shiny Magnemite,
then Altaria in White and now I have a shiny Beedrill caught as a Weedle.
I don't think relaxed is bad. + defense, but I don't know what it lowers, speed I think.
